Limestone Coast Grape & Wine Council seeking moratorium on Gas Mining

At a recent meeting of the Limestone Coast Grape & Wine Council a sub committee was formed and is calling for a moratorium on unconventional gas mining in all its forms, that is high volume high pressure slick-water fracturing.

Gas exploration in the South East

Hydraulic fracturing or fracking is a mining technique that’s created controversy interstate.
In the South East, one mining company is looking for tight and shale gas, with the first exploratory drilling expected to begin next month.
It’s the first time the practice has been considered in one of the State’s agricultural areas and the controversial technique is causing concerns for local farmers.
